Great post @Amuse. I was wondering what happened with this situation. As a Navy civilian, I was one of the first to receive a govt issue cc for official travel purposes in the late '90s. It was welcomed, in lieu of the old practice of issuing paper checks containing a computation of $$ allowed based on projected time to be spent on TDY (temporary aditional duty). It was not unusual to end up spending your own dime when you ended up staying an additional day or two, or having your return delayed by weather.

Then, the Supply (logistics) folks started lobbying to use for one time, small purchases and it went wild from there.

I hope that they're also looking at personal use abuse by government credit card holders.
